Exercise Playpen

Some families are unable to be home with puppy during the day, but that doesn't mean puppy has to be in the crate the entire time. While it is generally not recommended to leave your pup alone for an extended period of time, if you simply have no other choice, this playpen is great for giving puppy somewhere else to wait (and play!) besides their crate. We recommended combining two so puppy has proper room to move about. The extra freedom of movement, new environment, and open top will prevent a lot of the stress associated with being alone.

 dog bowl

Stainless steel food and water bowls resist mold and help keep the water fresh longer. The bowl designs make them almost impossible to knock over and help prevent sliding. These bowls are better than most because the rubber rings have a lower profile - less food and grime gets stuck between the metal and ring, so they are much easier to clean. Even if you decide to go with our recommended water bottles, we still recommend you pick up a 2-pack of bowls. We have more than one water dish in the house to ensure the dogs don't go without when they get thirsty.

No-Drip, Leak-proof Water bottle
No-Drip, Leak-proof

This one might might surprise you. We use these fantastic water bottles (usually used with small rodent pets like guinea pigs and chinchillas) when we are weening our puppies and they are perfect for making sure the puppies always have access to clean water. With a standard water bowl, the puppies step in the water, causing debris and puppy waste to contaminate the water. Benefit from our discovery and use these water bottles in your new pup's crate as well, at least until they have completed their crate training.

Dog Brush & Slicker

A lot of dog brushes have molded plastic tips that wear off, revealing the sharp metal ends of the pins and turning a good massage brush into a torture device. This brush has all-metal pins with small round metal tips that won't break or wear off. Not only will your dog love how the brush feels, but it helps remove the undercoat if used often and will be a great weapon against mats. The brush's softer side helps distribute essential oils across your pup's skin and hair, helping keep them cleaner and healthier. We recommend brushing daily for 5-10 minutes...if your pup will let you stop.

Dematting tools
Dematting tools

This a great dematting set, though in our experience most sets like these are of comparable quality. The main thing to look for is how the rubber handles are molded onto the metal shaft underneath. This set is well made for it's price tag, but you can buy better tools if you want to spend more money. We recommend this set for it's value. It will last a long time and do a great job removing mats from your pup.

The grooming rake will grab the dead undercoat and safely lift it from your pup's skin. The bladed comb cuts the undercoat if it gets knotted while using the combing rake. Simply place the blades, facing up, underneath the knotted undercoat and slowly rock it back and forth, pulling gently upward. Once the undercoat is cut, the two-sided metal comb will remove what's left of the undercoat, helping prevent matting in the future. Dematting takes a little practice, but this set makes the job significantly easier.

Interactive toys
Interactive toys

Toys worth spending money on are interactive puzzle toys, like Snuffle Mats and Burrows. These are great for smart dogs like cavapoos. They need to exercise their brain as much as their bodies, and they LOVE playing with these toys. Some interactive toys hide (e.g., snufflemat and kong), while others (e.g., burrows) hide smaller toys inside of a plush container your to tries get out which can prove challenging without thumbs. These are by far the best bang for your buck if you want to get some nice toys.

Important tip on Chew Sticks & Rawhides: Don't give to your puppy. Rawhide: Digestive systems can't process them & cause blockage. Bully sticks and pigskin chews are the safest and we use them often.
